Positioning our Sustainability and ESG framework

ZeroGeo Energy is committed to supporting a green energy transition – for people and planet.

ENVIRONMENT:

We strongly believe geothermal energy delivered to global business will be a crucial part of a decarbonised energy future. We aim to minimise environmental impacts by:

  • Reducing emissions

  • Using natural resources efficiently

  • Preventing pollution around our operations

  • Avoiding biodiversity degradation and restoring biodiversity via donations

SOCIAL

We are committed to assessing and managing health, safety, security and social risks throughout the life cycle of our projects.

We are committed to building a talented and diverse team who are supported at all levels. We are dedicated to ensuring a just energy transition for the local stakeholders and communities in which we operate.

GOVERNANCE

We aim to earn stakeholders’ trust via high standard of corporate governance and by maintaining high standards of transparency.

Sustainability Highlights

  • Employing people local to our projects

  • Carbon emissions from FTG Survey offset by donation to local nature and biodiversity fund

  • Commitment to gender diversity

  • Using the core competencies of oil and gas experts to drive decarbonisation

  • 1 x 12MW GeoPower project expected to avoid emittance of over 35,000 tCO2e emissions per annum

  • Working with sustain:able to further develop our sustainability goals

  • Executive compensation linked to ESG success

  • Aim to become Geothermal Sustainability Assessment Protocol (GSAP) certified

  • Budget allocated for biodiversity project support

  • Geothermal requires the least rare earth mineral extraction of all renewable energy sources

Sustainable Development

GeoPower Energy Projects specifically contribute towards at least 9 of the UN SDGs.

Commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all people and the world by 2030.

ZeroGeo Energy acknowledges the goals set forth by the Paris Climate Change Agreement and we support the objectives of the UN SDGs.

We are working to develop and align our strategy and business practices to support these initiatives and deliver ‘always-on’ baseload power and deliver geothermal storage projects, each being low carbon energy that will help to sustainably meet energy demand and grid management needs.

Climate Change and Energy Transition

We are committed to the energy transition, developing low carbon power generation and storage projects that mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and allow for efficient grid management.  These projects will lessen the effects of climate change and provide a more resilient energy network.

Long term, we will focus on the provision of low carbon energy to data centres as these are currently a large source of emissions and require a steady and consistent supply of electricity which can be difficult to supply from other renewable sources.

See our Environment and Climate Change Statement here.

Shared Prosperity

The proportion of businesses that rely on digitally enabled platforms to provide necessary goods and services is expected to continue to increase in the coming decades. We are committed to providing low carbon energy to enable more sustainable development of this sector.

We aim to do this through collaboration with other businesses, government bodies and trade associations to provide better access to reliable low carbon energy.

To achieve our goals, we are investing in building synergies with our strategic partners, each bringing a complimentary skillset to the endeavour. We are aligning with companies who share our vision and purpose to deliver low carbon energy.

We have a steadfast commitment to diversity and inclusion across our operations, as well as a core belief in the inviolability of human rights.

Health & Safety Management

We are committed to creating a safe work environment with a strong culture of health and safety awareness and abidance.

For more information on the company’s commitment to Health and Safety, our HSEQ Commitment can be found here.

Environmental Stewardship

We expect to minimise our impact on the surrounding environment by either converting late-life, onshore oil and gas assets into geothermal power and/or storage sites or co-locating with other renewable developers.  When we develop greenfield sites, we are committed to ensuring we minimise our impact on the surrounding environment.

We aim to go beyond best practice and are committed to restoring sites to their original state when operations have been completed.

Strong Governance

We are committed to responsible governance throughout our operations. By producing low carbon energy, we will be promoting energy security and helping to contribute to energy sovereignty in the areas in which we operate.

We are committed to operating ethically, sustainably and in accordance with all local and international laws and expect our business partners to do the same.
